Herndon UMC is the chartering organization for Cub Scout Pack 157 and Boy Scout Troop 157. Cub Scout Pack 157 provides opportunities for boys ages six through 11 to participate in Scouting activities from Tiger Cubs to Webelos.

Boy Scout Troop 157 is for boys age 11 to 18 to participate in programs leading to Eagle Scout and Order of the Arrow. These Scouts continue a tradition dating back 80 years. Troop 157 was first chartered by the Herndon Chamber of Commerce in 1933 and has an honor award dated 1934. It is one of the oldest Scout units in the community.

The church provides meeting space for three Girl Scout units. The rooms are used for meetings and ceremonies throughout the school year and summer. The church sponsors God and Country classes for both Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts to learn more about their faith. The awards for these activities are often given out on Scout Sunday in early February.
