Sheri was born and raised in Stafford, Virginia, a mere hour south but very southern 20 years ago. She received her BS in Education from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia where she taught for 2 years before moving to Northern Virginia with her husband, Bob. She has 2 additional boys in her life. Keegan, is attending Shenandoah University and Braden is attending Old Dominion University. She marvels at the blessing she was given to stay at home with them for 15 years and continues to count raising children and being married as the most rewarding, challenging and humbling experiences in her life.

While being home for 15 years, according to her husband, she perfected the art of volunteering. She started here at the Herndon UMC Preschool where she headed up the Parent’s organization for 6 years, before moving on to HUMC’s Children’s Ministry with years of organizing VBS. She also ran the GRACE Arts program for Dranesville Elementary School for 10 years while substitute teaching and most recently working as a Special Education Instructional Assistant at Clearview Elementary School. However, she will tell you that her most defining volunteer moment came when someone asked her to start a “little” basketball program. UPWARD has been the greatest gift to her and her family and has grown from 100 to 500 kids and just celebrated a decade. She is truly blessed that God chose her to lead such an amazing ministry and used that to call her further into ministry with youth. If she isn’t hanging out with the kids somewhere, she may be on a mission trip – another passion born in Haiti, LA, NC, NJ, SC and Costa Rica. She jokes that if you just volunteer long enough they will be forced to hire you. She just entered the Certificate Program in Youth Ministry at Princeton Theological Seminary and is so excited to see how the Lord continues to work in her life.
