Have you heard of the
Herndon High School/ Herndon United Methodist Partnership?

These two communities are more than just physical neighbors. They work to the betterment of one another, supporting each other’s missions and offering mutually beneficial programs… all within the confines of official Fairfax County Public Schools Partnership Guidelines.

HHS Entities Provide:

• An annual concert by the Madrigals at the church each December

• Performances by other HHS choirs at church dinners on Wednesday nights

• An ongoing display of HHS artwork at the church

• SGA participation in the distribution of toys through LINK at Christmas time

• SAGA’s help in facilitating recycling at the church by providing the receptacles and emptying them as needed

• Keyettes’ supplying of snacks for the HUMC tutoring program on Wednesday nights and assistance in other charitable drives, such as collecting bleach for New Orleans

HUMC Provides:

• Refreshments for three HHS Honor Roll Receptions per year

• Refreshments for PTSA-sponsored Baccalaureate

• Free tutoring at the church on most Wednesday nights, from 7-8PM

• Open Gym on selected Wednesday nights

• Gym space for the HHS award-winning Dance Team to practice two afternoons a week

• English-language books collected by church members for use by HHS ESOL students

More to Come!

Efforts are under way to strengthen the ties between the two, with the students’ interests in mind. A garage-band concert was held this past May at the church, with the hope for more concerts in the future. Representatives from the school and the church are also working to expand gym opportunities in the coming year.
