Music can be a powerful vessel for spiritual connection and a vehicle for growth- in musicianship, in faith, and in community.  A wide variety of music in worship allows both participants and listeners to experience their faith in new and meaningful ways.

Psalm 108:1-3 "My heart is steadfast, O God; I will sing and make music with all my soul. Awake, harp and lyre! I will awaken the dawn. I will praise You, O Lord, among the nations; I will sing of You among the peoples."

The vocal groups at Herndon UMC cover wide variety of age groups and musical styles-- everything from contemporary to classical, the Connection Band to the more formal Wesley Choir.  Herndon UMC also offers a hand bell and chime ensemble group for nearly any age or experience level.  These groups provide music during worship services, occasional GIFT Dinners and concerts. The annual Spring Mission Concert helps raise funds for one of Herndon UMC's mission projects.  Explore here to learn more about each of the different opportunities.

Herndon UMC offers singers and instrumentalists of all ages the opportunity to share their musical gifts with the congregation through Special Music offerings during worship services throughout the year.  A holiday favorite is the Christmas Orchestra which includes performers of all levels and is usually held the Sunday before Christmas.  If you are interested, please contact Shannon Wise.
HUMC's Music Ministry also brings in outside artists to perform.  Check back here and under Featured News to learn about upcoming events.  There is usually no charge for these events, but donations are appreciated.  All proceeds support future concerts or selected missions of the church.  Past Concert Series performers include US Navy Band Country Current, the Virginia Bronze Handbell Ensemble, the Rainier Trio and the Voices of Youth.
