Sheri was born and raised in Stafford, Virginia, a mere hour south but very southern then. She received her BS in Education from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia where she taught for two years before moving to Northern Virginia with her husband Bob. Sheri and Bob have two sons, Keegan and Braden. Sheri felt blessed to stay at home with her sons for fifteen years and continues to count raising children and being married as the most rewarding, challenging, and humbling experiences in her life.
Over the past fifteen years, Sheri has volunteered extensively. She started at the Herndon United Methodist Church Preschool where she headed up the parents' organization for six years before organizing Vacation Bible School for years through the Herndon UMC Children's Ministry. Sheri ran the GRACE Arts program for Dranesville Elementary School for ten years while substitute teaching. Most recently Sheri worked as a Special Education Instructional Assistant at Clearview Elementary School.
However, Sheri will tell you that her most defining volunteer moment came when she was asked to start an UPWARD basketball league at Herndon UMC. UPWARD has been a great gift to Sheri, her family, and her church family, and it has grown from 100 to 500 children in nine years under Sheri's leadership. Sheri truly is blessed not only that God called her to lead such an amazing ministry, but also that God has used UPWARD to call her further into ministry.
If Sheri isn't working with youth, she may be on a mission trip – another passion born in Haiti, LA, NC, NJ, and SC. Sheri is very excited to be on staff serving the Lord at Herndon UMC.
