Register today for the Women's Retreat on April 26 & 27.
As women, we get pretty good at lying to ourselves, often living out of fear and wounded by failure. Join us as we wrestle with the lies that taint the way we see ourselves and move in wholeness together toward forgiveness and faith, grounded in how God sees us through Jesus Christ.
Rev. Michelle Matthews, Keynote Speaker
Michelle is an inner-city high school English teacher turned pastorpreneuer, and she serves currently at the Kingstowne Communion, a new United Methodist church in Alexandria, VA that exists to gather people into communion with Jesus Christ through courageous conversation, creative community and collaborating for the common good. Michelle graduated from Old Dominion University with her Bachelor of Arts in English and Journalism and later received her Master of Divinity degree from Duke Divinity School. She has been serving as a pastor in the Virginia Conference of the United Methodist Church for almost 4 years, and she and her husband, Chris, live in Old Town Alexandria with their 16 year old schnauzer Tootie and cat Chandler. Michelle loves winery outings, tap-dancing, and watching reruns of her favorite show Friends.
Cassie Miller, Musician
Cassie’s passion is to use music to help people improve their lives, and attended the program of Music Therapy at Maryville University of St. Louis so that that she could do just that. As a musician, she has spent time with young adults living with developmental disabilities, children with vision and hearing impairments, and seniors in assisted living facilities, and her passion and skillset has helped her lead music, as well, in her church. In her spare time, Cassie enjoys playing with my cats, watching movies, and playing video games, as she continues to settle back in to Virginia.
