Herndon UMC is one of the local congregations which support The Closet, a non-profit thrift shop in downtown Herndon. Through the sales in the thrift shop, The Closet gives back to the local community through grants to its member congregations and to local non-profit organizations such as LINK, Cornerstones, Herndon-Reston FISH, and Helping Hungry Kids just to name a few. The Closet also provides scholarships to college freshmen from local high schools including Herndon High and provides free clothing and essential household goods to needy families referred by local social serve organizations. The Closet depends upon its volunteers for the many hours they work, and Herndon UMC needs to continue to do its part to support the work of The Closet. We have two days to support The Closet this month: Friday January 18th and Wednesday January 30th, with two people needed each morning (10:00-12:00) and two people each afternoon (12:00-2:00). This is a great opportunity meet local community members who shop and volunteer at The Closet and to help Herndon UMC to connect with the local community. If you can support The Closet for a two-hour period, please sign up at the following link: The Closet January 2019.
