Herndon UMC has long supported mission activities around the world. Our international mission outreach program provides opportunities for service by developing and nurturing relationships with international churches and organizations.

In 2009, a team from Herndon UMC VIM visited Costa Rica with volunteers from Galilee UMC (Sterling, VA). They helped to build a Methodist church in Costa Rica with a young Pastor from a small rural town. Herndon UMC returned again to work with Pastor Eddier in 2010 and 2012. The church is located in the neighborhood of Carrillos about 30 miles north of Alajuela, which is one of the few large cities in Costa Rica. Because of HUMC congregation support we have been able to build the church foundation for their temple, paint the Sunday School hallway and bathrooms, conduct Vacation Bible School for the children, build the church driveway and bring the prayer shawls to the ladies in the congregation.

We invite you to step out of your comfort zone and consider participating on an international VIM trip. God has a plan for you and He will lead you to do things to help His people.
