Who is this Jesus?
This Lent, let’s dive deeper into the teachings of Jesus by exploring who Jesus is. This sermon series is based on the book, The Seven Signs of Jesus by Stan Guthrie. There will be devotionals, and studies, and more to help you deepen your realtionship with Christ our Savior this Lent.

Events that you won’t want to miss during Lent and Holy Week at Herndon UMC:
Lent is a season of preparation for Holy Week. Holy Week commemorates the final week of Jesus’ life, specifically his passion, death, and resurrection, which are considered the foundation of the Christian faith, demonstrating the ultimate sacrifice, love, and redemption. There are many ways to take part and remember Jesus’ story with Herndon UMC:
Saturday, March 28
Outside & Doe Fellowship Hall
FUN RUN | 8 am
Join other runners and walkers for a community run on the trails and around the Herndon UMC neighborhood at 8 AM and then enjoy breakfast at Herndon UMC.

KIDS EGG FUN RUN | 9 am
Children from just walking to 6th grade are invited to join in a KIDS EGG FUN RUN in the field at 701 Bennett Street. They may trade their eggs for a goodie bag, and enjoy some breakfast inside.

Way of the Cross
The Way of the Cross is a self-paced, prayer walk that follows Jesus through Holy Week. This creative, sensory experience has been given a refresh, so save 30-45 minutes to come and experience Jesus in a new way. Wednesday or Thursday evening, 5-7 pm. All ages and abilities are welcome.

You are invited to share in a Tenebrae Service. Tenebrae or “Shadows,” is based on a twelfth–century late night/early morning service and is an extended meditation on the passion of Christ. Join in person or on YouTube and share in scripture and beautiful music.

Sunrise Worship | Outside (by the flower cross)
Watch the sunrise. Bring a chair (and maybe a blanket) and join us outside for this early celebration of the open tomb.

Sanctuary & Livestream*
This is the traditional Easter you remember with Holy Communion. Bring your family and neighbors for this Easter worship experience. This service will also be streamed on YouTube.
Bring a flower on Easter Sunday for the flower cross. See how beautiful the cross becomes as we all leave tributes to our risen Lord. This tradition is supported by the Herndon United Women in Faith. They will also have some flowers available.

Serving and Sharing God’s Love
Through Easter, there are many opportunities to serve and share God’s love in community.
- Food and Love Bags for LINK are available in the Welcome Centers through March 8 when they should be returned with food to be donated to the LINK pantry. The bags will become available again on April 12.
- The last Hypothermia Shelter Dinners of the season is scheduled for March 15.
- The Worship and Fellowship Dinner on March 18 will include dinner sponsored by the Herndon UMC Youth as a fundraiser for the Summer Youth Mission trip.
- There are ongoing needs to support The Closet of Greater Herndon and to provide socks and other clothing for the Cornerstones Homeless Shelter.
After Easter,
- Herndon UMC will host the Herndon Pyramid Art Show in and around Doe Fellowship Hall from April 10-16.
- On Wednesday, April 22, the Worship and Fellowship Dinner will be a fundraiser for Health Kits for the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR). This is a mission project of the Naomi Ruth Circle of Herndon United Women in Faith.
- The last Saturday in April 25, join the team from 8 am to 3 pm working to help repair the home of a neighbor in need on Herndon UMC’s National Rebuilding Day project with our local chapter of Rebuilding Together.
- April 25, is also the Preschool Spring Fair, which is an opportunity to support the Herndon UMC Preschool.
