Herndon UMC

God’s Love is Real. God’s Love is Active. God’s Love is for Everyone.

Afghan Refugee Resettlement

Oct 7, 2021 | Opportunities to Serve

God’s love is active and for everyone.

Herndon UMC is joining forces with Sterling UMC, Centreville UMC, Floris UMC, and Galilee UMC to help West Fairfax Christian Ministries and Lutheran Social Services provide care for refugees in the process of resettling from Afghanistan.  We will provide a week’s worth of food for ten individuals currently housed in our area.

You may help support these individuals by giving of your time, donating food, or providing funds for food to be given to them.  Our first delivery is Monday, November 1.  This situation is fluid and needs could change, but we are also planning on providing food again on Monday, November 29 and Monday, December 6.

Sign ups for food donations, prep and delivery can be found at bit.ly/HerndonUMCNeeds and donations may be made at bit.ly/HelpFromHerndon.  If you do not want to sign up online, look for the clipboard hung on the Connection Corner and print your name and email next to the item(s) that you would like to sign up for and we will add you to the list.  Financial donations may also be made through any of the the usual donation methods — on the app, by check, or online (PayPal or Pushpay).  Just please be sure to indicate the amount designated for the Afghan Refugees.

The mission of Herndon UMC is to serve and share God’s Love in community.

The vision of Herndon UMC is to live the teachings of Jesus so that everyone may know God’s Love and grow in Spirit-filled relationships.
