The Way of the Heart — Book Study

Mar 24, 2021 | Adult Ministries, Student Ministries

You are invited to deepen your relationship with God this Spring.

Living the teachings of Christ and growing Spirit-filled relationships requires discipline. This seven-week course takes you through spiritual disciplines intended to deepen your relationship with God.  Join Pastor Flor on this seven-week journey through the book “The Way of the Heart” by Henri J. M. Nouwen.  “The Way of the Heart” illuminates a spiritual path consisting of three stepping-stones: Solitude (learning not to be alone but to be alone with God); Silence (the discipline by which the inner fire of God is tended and kept alive); and Prayer (standing in the presence of God with the mind in the heart).  In beautifully clear and practical reflections, Nouwen helps readers separate the wheat from the chaff in our spiritual lives–and reconnects us with what truly matters.

Both the Wednesday and Friday groups are led by Pastor Flor.  To encourage participation, the groups will be kept small, and sign ups are now closed.

Questions may be directed to Pastor Flor, flor@herndonumc.org.

Since its first publication, The Way of the Heart has helped millions of men and women cast off the anger and greed that trouble the world—and find love, compassion, and peace in the heart of God.

You may always request that Herndon UMC purchase the book for you.  Please do so when you register above.  If you would like to order your own copy,  it is available from Amazon in paperback, hardcover, audiobook and for Kindle.

The cost of the paperback is $12.49 and the Kindle book is $6.99.

The mission of Herndon UMC is to serve and share God’s Love in community.

The vision of Herndon UMC is to live the teachings of Jesus so that everyone may know God’s Love and grow in Spirit-filled relationships.
