Ash Wednesday emphasizes a dual encounter: we confront our own mortality and confess our sin before God within the community of faith. The form and content of the service focus on the dual themes of sin and death in the light of God’s redeeming love in Jesus Christ. Please join us for this service as we start this season of Lent together in community. This simple, about 30-minute worship experience premieres on Wednesday, February 17 at 7 pm. This service is available here on the website, through the Herndon UMC YouTube channel, and on Herndon UMC’s Facebook page.
Worshipers are encouraged to participate. No matter where you are, please add your voice to prayers and songs and stand as you are able. To participate in the application of ashes, you will need some form of dust or dirt. Ashes were provided in the Lent Kit. If you did not receive a kit and would like one, please contact admin@herndonumc.org.
Please let us know you are worshiping with us, who is there worshiping with you, and where you are. This can be done in the chat and comments, or by email to office@herndonumc.org.
