March 20 | God and the Good Life (Week 3): Embrace the Absurd

Mar 14, 2022 | Worship

You are invited into this worship experience for the week of Sunday, March 20.

From Isaiah 55:1-9

The prophecy of Isaiah, in the context of an extreme “wilderness”, is absurd. Food and drink are available at no cost and a covenant is on the way with a God who has been at a distance. When we look at this prophecy through a modern lens, it doesn’t feel as absurd — we have a different perspective. How might Isaiah’s prophecy be an invitation to us to see that which feels uncomfortable or audacious not for what it is in the present, but for what it will be beyond what we might know or see? What does it mean to embrace the absurd in order to discover God and the good life?

What is absurd in the present moment may become wisdom in the future.

No matter where you worship from, you are encouraged to add your voice to prayers and songs and stand as you are able.  There is a Bulletin to help you experience worship.  It includes links and information to help you be connected at Herndon UMC along with the order of worship.

This Sunday our morning worship is  @ 10am in Herndon UMC’s Fellowship Hall. This service is livestreamed on YouTube and herndonumc.org. Our second worship opportunity is Sunday at 5pm in the sanctuary.

Nursery care is available for infants and young children during the Sunday worship services.  If you have questions about the Nursery, contact mallory@herndonumc.org.

KIDS Age 3 – Grade 6 start Sunday mornings in Worship with their families, and are invited to join our adult leaders for their own hands-on Bible learning time after the Children’s Message.

As always, we want to stay connected and are a community of prayer.  Glory sightings and prayer concerns may be shared by text, in the chat, through this online form, or at any time by email to prayerchain@herndonumc.org.
