June 5 | Confirmation for Everyone (Week 6): This We Believe

Jun 1, 2022 | Worship

You are invited into this worship experience for the week of Sunday, June 5.

When young people are in their middle and high school years, they go through something we call Confirmation. Other traditions might call it catechism or some other form of discipleship or intentional learning, but the point of this experience is to teach young people about some of the core principles of Christianity. We trust that, throughout life, people are on a discipleship journey that builds on the foundations of Confirmation. And while that may be the case, it is infrequent that we revisit those foundational pieces as a set apart consideration in worship. This Easter series will give us a lens to reconnect with the lessons of Confirmation, believing that we might continue our journey of faith together.

From Acts 2:1-20

Pentecost: As we approach this day where we remember the birth of the church, we do so believing there is a creedal component to our shared living. Ultimately, Confirmation is meant to be an opportunity to express our beliefs in a shared setting. We recognize that there will be pieces we can firmly believe and other places where we are in constant flux or growth. But the best of all is through every moment, God is with us, loving us all the way.

Our shared belief guides us to be growing and developing as followers of Jesus throughout our lives.

No matter where you worship from, you are encouraged to add your voice to prayers and songs and stand as you are able.  There is a Bulletin to help you experience worship.  It includes links and information to help you be connected at Herndon UMC along with the order of worship.

Morning worship is at 10am in the sanctuary and livestreamed on YouTube and herndonumc.org. Our evening worship is at 5pm in the sanctuary.

Nursery care is available for infants and young children during the Sunday worship services.  If you have questions about the Nursery, contact mallory@herndonumc.org.

KIDS Age 3 – Grade 6 start Sunday mornings in Worship with their families, and are invited to join our adult leaders for their own hands-on Bible learning time after the Children’s Message.

As always, we want to stay connected and are a community of prayer.  Glory sightings and prayer concerns may be shared by text, in the chat, through this online form, or at any time by email to prayerchain@herndonumc.org.
