August 15 Worship – The Ten (Week 9): Do Not Covet, Do Not Bear False Witness

Aug 9, 2021 | Handbells & Chime Ensembles, Worship

You are invited into this worship experience for the week of Sunday, August 15.

If we can’t physically see it, how do we know what’s really happening? The final two Commandments found in Exodus chapter 20 (Do Not Bear False Witness and Do Not Covet) take the first 8 action-based Commandments we have studied over these past 8 weeks and turn to an inward focus. What do God’s Commandments say about the desires of our heart? How can we best align our heart-place with God’s call to love our neighbor? What impact do the desires of my heart have on others around me? By looking through the lens of the Israelites in the Book of Exodus, and through the Book of Psalms, this week we will begin to explore what God says about telling the truth and how doing so or not doing so can impact not only our lives, but the lives of those in our community.

No matter where you worship from, you are encouraged to add your voice to prayers and songs and stand as you are able.  There is a Bulletin to help you experience worship.  It includes links and information to help you be connected at Herndon UMC along with the order of worship for all three services.

As always, we want to stay connected and are a community of prayer.  Glory sightings and prayer concerns may be shared by text, in the chat, through this online form, or at any time by email to prayerchain@herndonumc.org.

If you are new or looking to get more connected or learn more about Herndon UMC, please email welcome@herndonumc.org or complete this online form.  You are welcome here and we would love to grow in a Spirit-filled relationship with you.
