What’s Happening This Summer at Herndon UMC

There are many opportunities to grow in faith, fun, and fellowship this summer with Herndon UMC.  This list will be growing with opportunities for kids of all ages, youth, and adults.  Check back often and learn more here.

July 6-12 | Camp Holston NC
Cross Connections Youth Mission Trip
Completed grades 6-12

Middle school and high school students, come enjoy a week of fun, mission, and service at Camp Holston. Holston Retreat Center is tucked away in the High Country of North Carolina near Beech, Sugar, and Grandfather mountains. Cross Connections serves Watauga and Avery counties with safe access home repair projects from this location.  The week will include meeting a variety of people, learning new skills, worshipping with friends, and experiences you will never forget. You will be impacting people’s lives for the Gospel and learning along the way!

There may be a spot or two left for this trip.  The cost is less than $650 per student and scholarships are available if needed. Please complete a separate form for each attendee, and let Jomo know if you have any questions, jomo@herndonumc.org.

 

June 22-27 | Herndon UMC
Summer Musical Theatre Camp 2025

Herndon UMC Presents Seussical Jr. for our fourth annual Summer Musical Theatre Camp.  This camp is open to those from age 5-18 with an interest in being a part of a summer musical.  No experience is required.

Registration Options include:

PERFORMERS (Ages: 9 – 18)  — Show up at 10 am, Monday through Friday and at 1 pm on the Sunday before to learn the parts or be in the ensemble.

Performers are assigned roles in the production and also support in the ensemble. Performers may elect to only be in the ensemble.

JR APPRENTICES (Ages: 5 – 8) — Show up at 1 pm, Monday through Friday and perform as featured part of the ensemble as Whos and Circus Animals.

PERFORMER-VOLUNTEERS (Ages 13 – 18) — Show up at 9 am, Monday through Friday and spend an additional two hours each day (for a total of 10 volunteer hours) in props/costumes/sets and are also assigned role(s) in the production and support in the ensemble. Documentation of volunteer hours is provided.

VOLUNTEERS (Ages 13 – 18) — Show up at 9 am, Monday through Friday, and serve as Stage Managers, Choreographers, JR APPRENTICE Rehearsal Assistants, and assist with props/sets/costuming/sound/projection, etc. Volunteers may appear on stage in a supporting capacity for younger performers. Documentation of volunteer hours is provided.

July 14-18 |  4-7 pm (specific time varies by level) | Herndon UMC
Ukulele Summer Camps 2025
Grade 1 to Adult

This summer Herndon UMC is offering a variety of Ukulele camps to meet interested musicians where they are. This the perfect chance for people with zero ukulele experience to try it out and learn basic ukulele skills together.

Rising first-grade students all the way up through adults are invited to participate. Families can do this together.

The camps will be held in Herndon UMC in rooms 102, 103, & 104 (near Door 2)

You do not need an instrument, Herndon UMC has Kala concert ukuleles to loan to instrumentalists! You may provide your own instrument if you wish.

All are welcome at the Showcase on Friday at 7:30 pm at Herndon UMC. Students are also invited to share what they have learned at Herndon Harbor House (senior community) on Saturday, time TBD.

July 21-25 | 9 am to Noon | Herndon UMC
True North (Vacation Bible School) 2025
Age 3 to completed grade 6

Kids ages 3 through completing grade 6 are invited to join their friends at Herndon UMC on the ultimate Alaskan adventure where northern lights glow over majestic mountains, racing rivers, and glistening glaciers. As kids trek the tundra, they’ll explore how easy it is to lose sight of what’s true in our wild world today. Pointing them toward Jesus, True North VBS shows them that he is a faithful friend we can always trust. He’s our True North!
